The statistic represents the average number of seats on A320 aircraft used for U.S. domestic operations from 2010 through 2014. In 2013, the mainline carriers had an average of 151 seats for each domestic flight. Many airlines have been what has been dubbed “upgauging”: airlines increase capacity on flights by replacing smaller jet models with larger ones and adding seats on existing planes.
