In 2022, the most common type of household receiving social welfare in Sweden was single men without children. This was the case for 37,000 single men without children born in Sweden, and 29,000 single men born outside of Sweden. Single women without children made up the second largest household type receiving social welfare among both types of background. The difference between the households with Swedish-born citizens and foreign-born citizens was most significant among couples with children, where over 16,000 of the latter received social welfare, whereas only 1,000 of the former did the same.
