The vacancy rate of office real estate in Barcelona, Spain, remained stable in 2023, after increasing sharply in 2022. In the fourth quarter of 2023, approximately 12.2 percent of office space was vacant, up from 6.7 percent in 2019, before the coronavirus outbreak. The office vacancy rate in Madrid, the other business hub of Spain, was lower than in Barcelona. In Europe, some of the markets with the lowest share of vacant space were Berlin, Luxembourg, and Hamburg.
