Sweden: number of employed by employment type 2022

The total number of employees in Sweden increased steadily from 2009 to 2019, before falling slightly in 2020 following the outbreak of COVID-19. In 2022, there were a total of nearly 4.7 million people employed in Sweden. Of these, most were permanently employed, amounting to nearly four million. Over 730,000 people were temporarily employed, whereas 514,000 were either self-employed or family workers, meaning that they work without salary in a company belonging to a member of the same household.
