Smartwatch shipments worldwide have been increasing over the last few years . With 9.5 million smartwatch shipments as of the second quarter of 2021, Apple is the leading smartwatch vendor, followed by Samsung with two million-unit shipments.

The device captured over 75 percent of the smartwatch shipments market within its first few months on sale, decreasing the market share of Samsung- the market leader at that time. The Apple Watch has been the market leader since then, with its market share continuing to increase following the launch of the Apple Watch Series in 2015.
