Finland: negative asylum decisions 2022

In the period from 2012 to 2022, the number of negative asylum decisions peaked at 14,282 in 2016 as a result of high number of asylum applications in 2015. In the following years, the number of asylum applications declined again. In 2022, 935 negative decisions were made, while 892 applications were dismissed due to the Dublin regulation, because the application was manifestly unfounded, or other grounds.

The source adds the following information: "An asylum seeker is a person applying for protection and right of residence in a foreign state. Those who are given international protection are granted a residence permit. Statistics on extended permits based on international protection can be found under ‘Residence permit’. No applications that have been corrected as subsequent applications in the statistics during the process can be seen in the statistics on applications."
