Over the time period observed, retail sales of hardware, paints and glass in Great Britain peaked during the first quarter of 2021, when the value index measured at 135.6. This can be linked to the boost that the DIY (do-it-yourself) industry has experience amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Despite brick-and-mortar temporary store closures, online sales of building materials, paints, and plants saw a significant increment. As of the second quarter of 2023, sales value index stood at 115.5.
