Coal use for electricity generation in the United Kingdom dropped sharply in the past decade, standing at around 2.25 million metric tons in 2022. In comparison to decade-peak recorded in 2012, this represented a decrease of more than 95 percent. Coal is expected to be phased-out as an electricity source in the UK by 2025.
