Most new single-family houses completed in 2023 used public sewers, although many used individual septic systems. Out of the 815,000 houses using public sewers, around 812,000 had a public water supply source. However, the number of new homes with an individual or public water supply source was more equally distributed among those houses with an individual septic system.
