For example, in the capital Moscow, the medium monthly pay offered to an IT specialist with one to three years of experience stood at 69 thousand Russian rubles in 2021. To compare, in regions other than Moscow and Saint Petersburg, a candidate with the same experience was offered 39 thousand Russian rubles.

Among regions of Russia, Moscow exported by far the highest value of software, at 5.6 billion U.S. dollars between the second half of 2020 and the first half of 2021. In aggregate terms, Russia exported information and communication technology (ICT) services worth 5.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2022.
