IT employment in Russia
Over 680,000 people worked in the Russian IT industry in 2022. Salaries offered in the sector varied between regions of Russia. For example, in the capital Moscow, the medium monthly pay offered to an IT specialist with one to three years of experience stood at 69,000 Russian rubles in 2021. To compare, in regions other than Moscow and Saint Petersburg, a candidate with the same experience was offered 39,000 Russian rubles.
IT outsourcing in Russia
In 2020, the revenue of the system integration and IT outsourcing in Russia amounted to approximately 1.96 million U.S. dollars. IT outsourcing refers to the use of external providers to perform IT services. Among regions of Russia, Moscow exported by far the highest value of software, at 5.6 billion U.S. dollars between the second half of 2020 and the first half of 2021. In aggregate terms, Russia exported information and communication technology (ICT) services worth 5.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2022.
