Fair trade wine sales increased over the period of consideration from roughly 150 thousand liters in 2005 to around 1.56 million liters in 2023. This was also an increase compared to the year before, though still behind pre-pandemic levels.

The fair trade certificate proves that the respective product has been fairly traded. Fair trade is a form of controlled trade designed to address power imbalances in international trading as well as fluctuating market prices. For example, a price floor is set to ensure a specified price for the producers and producers are paid a premium on top for communal investments. Furthermore, production methods are subject to international ecological and social standards.
