Within the age group from 5 to 7, the motive to teach children to manage money independently and pocket money as a reward were reported by around 40 to 45 percent each. With the increasing age, the share of parents who reported that they want to teach independent behavior increases. In comparison with the other age groups, more parents of children from 15 to 18 answered that the children should have been able to buy things for themselves when the parents were not around.
