This statistic shows the number of virtual machines (VMs) being run in private cloud environments by enterprises worldwide, in 2015 and 2016, according to a January 2016 survey conducted by RightScale. As of January 2016, 31 percent of respondents indicated that their enterprise was running 1000 virtual machines or more in a private cloud environment. Globally, 72 percent of organizations are using on-premise private cloud. Off premises and taking the Asia-Pacific region as an example, dedicated hosted private cloud services are expected to significantly outgrow their on-demand alternative over the coming years.
