Biodiesel consumption in the U.S. 2007-2023
The United States consumed some 1.94 billion gallons of biodiesel in 2023. Biodiesel is intended to be used in standard diesel engines as a standalone fuel or blended with petroleum. Consumption volumes peaked in 2016, at 2.09 billion gallons before declining again the following years. The U.S. is the leading biofuel producing country in the world, followed by Brazil and Indonesia.
