 In 2024, one cigarette in the premium segment cost smokers in Germany an average of 43.5 cents. A large part of the revenue goes to the German tax authorities via tobacco tax and VAT. Cigarette manufacturers and retailers only earn around 16.8 cents from a cigarette.
