The majority of home buyers in the United States in 2023 across all age groups purchased a home between 1,501 and 2,500 square feet in size. 33 percent of the young millennials (25 to 33 years old) and 31 percent of the silent generation (78 to 98 years old) purchased a home about the same feet in size.

The source adds the following information: "In July 2023, NAR mailed out a 129-question survey using a random sample weighted to be representative of sales on a geographic basis to 189,750 recent home buyers. The recent home buyers had to have purchased a primary residence home between July 2022 and June 2023. A total of 6,817 responses were received from primary residence buyers. After accounting for undeliverable questionnaires, the survey had an adjusted response rate of 3.6 percent."
