When choosing a neighborhood to buy a home in 2023, the quality of the neighborhood was the most important condition to the majority of home buyers in the United States. Other highly important factors that influenced the neighborhood choice of home buyers were the convenience of the home from their friends and family, and overall affordability of the homes.

The source adds the following information: "In July 2023, NAR mailed out a 129-question survey using a random sample weighted to be representative of sales on a geographic basis to 189,750 recent home buyers. The recent home buyers had to have purchased a primary residence home between July 2022 and June 2023. A total of 6,817 responses were received from primary residence buyers. After accounting for undeliverable questionnaires, the survey had an adjusted response rate of 3.6 percent."
