Cigarette consumption
In 2023, 36.2 percent of Italian smokers declared to consume on average six to ten cigarettes per day. Between 2010 to 2023, the share of individuals smoking 11 to 20 cigarettes per day decreased, while it increased the percentage of smokers stating to consume no more than ten cigarettes daily. During the same period, also the share of heavy smokers – people smoking more than 20 cigarettes per day – decreased.
E-cigarette
According to a survey conducted in 2023, around 2.5 percent of Italians used e-cigarettes, an increase compared to the previous year. Most of them would consume nicotine e-cigarettes, with 54.4 percent of users. Conversely, 36 percent of them would use nicotine-free products.
