The number of employees in the wholesale and retail trade industry incl. repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles in Bulgaria increased by 8,510 employees (+2.21 percent) in 2021 in comparison to the previous year. In total, the number of employees amounted to 394,289 employees in 2021. Over the observed period, the number of employees has been subject to fluctuation. The relationship of employer to employee exists when there is an agreement, which may be formal or informal, between an enterprise and a person, normally entered into voluntarily by both parties, whereby the person works for the enterprise in return for remuneration in cash or in kind.
