In 2018, the production value of the wholesale and retail trade industry incl. repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles in the United Kingdom increased by 40.7 billion euros (+9.31 percent) since 2017. In total, the production value amounted to 477.6 billion euros in 2018. This increase was preceded by a declining production value in this industry.

The production value is defined as turnover, plus or minus the changes in stocks of finished products, work in progress and goods and services purchased for resale, minus the purchases of goods and services for resale, plus capitalised production, plus other operating income (excluding subsidies). Income and expenditure classified as financial or extra-ordinary in company accounts is excluded from production value.
Data coverage is for the code G of the CE_R2 of economic activities, which is wholesale and retail trade including the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.
