This statistic displays the electricity production from additional installed combined heat and power (CHP) capacity in the United States in 2012, by sector. During this year, the United States produced about 1,320 gigawatt hours of electricity from newly installed CHP capacity for the residential and commercial sector. CHP use is increasing to provide power, heating, and sometimes cooling to hospitals, schools, health facilities, and hotels.
