Telecommunications: innovator rate in Germany 2008-2015

This statistic shows the innovator rate of the telecommunications industry in Germany from 2008 to 2015. The term innovator rate defines the share of companies that successfully completed at least one product innovation within the previous three years. At that, it is irrelevant whether or not another company already introduced this particular innovation. In 2010, the telecommunications industry in Germany had an innovator rate of roughly 68 percent.

According to the source, the German Innovation Survey is conducted by the Center for European Economic Research (ZEW, Mannheim) in cooperation with the Institute for Applied Social Sciences (infas) and the Fraunhofer Institute for System and Innovations Research (ISI) since 1993 on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The survey considers all companies in Germany with a minimum of at least five employees and an economic focus in the relevant sector. Definitions and measuring concepts correspond to the international standards of OECD and Eurostat. Every other year, the Innovation Survey is part of the European Innovation Survey (Community Innovation Survey CIS) conducted by Eurostat.

All numbers are projected to the basic population of companies with at least 5 employees in Germany. More than 15,400 companies partiticipated in the 2016 innovation survey (= 50 percent of random sample), 843 of which came from the EDP and telecommunications industries.

Telecommunications (WZ08 61): Landline and mobile telephony, satellite communication, internet service providers, intermediation of phone and internet services (incl. internet cafes and call shops).
