Phone bill: monthly mobile costs in Germany 2018

The most widespread cost of monthly mobile phone bills, judging by customer numbers recorded, amounted to under 20 euros. Close behind was the share of the German population paying 20 to 30 euros.

Contracts more popular

The number of mobile phone connections in Germany has experienced a slump after explosive growth, before picking up again. As of last count, the figure stood at 141 million. The majority of mobile phone users had a contract as opposed to a prepaid plan. This was also true across age groups and when breaking down numbers by gender.

Household mobile phone ownership

While the share of private households in Germany owning a mobile phone has grown somewhat slower in recent years, it does still continue to rise. Market presence is split more or less evenly between three leading providers: Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone and Telefonica O2.
