This statistic shows the number of subscription video on demand subscribers in North America in 2016, as well as a forecast for 2017, 2018, and 2022. The source projected the number in the United States would increase from 105.34 million in 2016 to 159.64 million in 2022. As the number of SVoD subscribers has grown, so has the revenue generated in the industry. In 2014, the SVoD market in the United States generated 3.2 billion U.S. dollars in revenue and this figure almost doubled to 6.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2016. The type of content that viewers access through these services varies from recently released movies to series made in other countries.
