This statistic shows the total amount of sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions through waste collection, treatment and disposal services in the United Kingdom (UK) from 1990 to 2017. It shows that emissions attributable to this sector have decreased since 1990, particularly between 1995 and 2000. During this time, emissions fell from 8,900 metric tons to 1,400 metric tons. Emissions fell to 1,100 metric tons in 2017.
Sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions from waste collection, treatment and disposal services in the United Kingdom (UK) from 1990 to 2017
(in 1,000 metric tons)
Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) is a highly reactive gas, that along with Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) and Ammonia (NH3) is measured as a precursor to acid rain.
This includes waste collection, treatment and disposal services as well as material recovery services.
Sector classification is based on the NACE code, which is the industry standard classification system for economic activities in the European Community.
