The Office for National Statistics recorded that in the fourth quarter of 2023, consumer spending amounted to just under two billion British pounds.
In UK households, the average weekly expenditure on hairdressing and beauty treatments was 3.60 pounds in 2022. Age breakdown revealed that consumers between 50 and 64 years spent the highest amount among all demographics. Young consumers spent as little as 3.10 British pounds a week, making them the age group with the lowest weekly expenditure on hairdressing.
On an annual basis, the trend in expenditure at hairdressing salons was an increasing one. In 2023, British households purchased an average of 6.6 billion British pounds worth of goods services from establishments that specialized in hairdressing and other beauty treatments. This marked an improvement of about one billion British pounds since 2013.
