In 2017, Poste Vita was the leading insurance company in the life insurance sector in Italy in terms of gross written premiums. Indeed, the company registered a market share of 17.5 percent. Second in the list came Intesa Sanpaolo, with a market share of 8.5 percent. Poste Vita’s gross written premiums peaked at over 20 billion euros in that year, before decreasing significantly in 2018, and rising again the next year.
