Willingness to pay plastic carrier bag charges in England 2015, by age

This statistic shows the results of a survey, displaying the share of adults who are willing to pay for a plastic carrier bag when shopping, following the 5 pence charge on single-use carrier bags put in place in all supermarkets and many other high street stores in England from October 5th 2015. The younger age groups were the most willing to pay for bags, with 22 percent of under 35s willing to pay compared to nine percent of over 55s. Consumers over 55 were more likely to bring their own bag.
