The Volkswagen Group released a statement admitting that, amongst others, almost 400 thousand Audi cars in the United Kingdom were fitted with the controversial software that manipulates emissions data. A total of 1,189,906 vehicles in the UK were affected. The scandal has had global ramifications and resulted in the resignation of the Volkswagen Group's CEO, Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn.
