This statistic presents the distribution of information security workforce worldwide in 2013 and 2015, sorted by gender. As of January 2015, 11 percent of the global infosec workforce were female. In the GRC segment, women accounted for 20 percent of workers.

Leaders include survey respondents with job titles of executives (CEO, CIO, CSO, and CISO), managers, architects, strategists, and strategic advisors. Practitioners include all the remaining job titles, with security analyst being the most prominent (24% of practitioners). The remaining subgroup, GRC ( Governance, Risk/Risk Management), and Compliance), includes survey respondents that are employed in private industry, located in the United States, and selected GRC as their primary functional responsibility. GRC was included as a new section in the 2015 survey.
