The figure for 2020 refers to a base of 38,52 million TV households in Germany.
Up until 2017, the question was phrased as follows: Do you have the ability to view video content from the internet directly on your TV? (Original question in German: "Haben Sie die Möglichkeit, Videoinhalte aus dem Internet direkt auf dem Fernseher anzusehen, z.B. mit einem Smart TV, also einem internetfähigen Fernsehgerät?")
From 2018 onwards, the question was phrased as follows: Is your TV a Smart TV, i.e. an Internet-enabled TV? (Original question in German: "Handelt es sich bei Ihrem Fernsehgerät/ Ihren Fernsehgeräten um ein Smart TV-Gerät, also ein internetfähiges TV-Gerät?")
