Number of same-sex civil partnerships France 2002-2022
Civil partnerships or PACS for "Civil Solidarity Pact" is a common practice in France. This contract does not bring the same rights and duties to the couple as a marriage contract, but it does make it possible to organise life together.
Introduced in 1999, this was the first opportunity for same-sex couples to organize their life together officially. Marriage for homosexual people was promulgated under the presidency of François Hollande in 2013.
Since 2002, the number of same-sex PACS has risen steadily, peaking in 2022 with more than 10,000 unions.
