Psychiatrists: number of employees in Greece 2007-2021

The number of psychiatrists in Greece increased by 56 psychiatrists (+2.17 percent) since the previous year. In total, the number of psychiatrists amounted to 2,636 psychiatrists in 2021.
A psychiatrist owns a medical doctor's degree, specialized in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health conditions. Thus, psychiatrists are allowed to prescribe medication which, in many countries, distinguishes them from psychologists/psychotherapists. Psychiatrists can also be trained in specialty areas of psychiatry like neuropsychiatry or child psychiatry.
