This statistic shows the projected revenue development of the telecommunications industry in Germany from 2011 to 2024. According to the projection, the German telecommunications industry will generate a revenue of roughly 83 billion euros in 2020. For this statistic, only those companies that generated a revenue of more than 17,500 euros from deliveries and services were taken into account, which may lead to results that differ from those of other publications.

The industry forecast is based on sector 61 of the industry branch classification of the Statistisches Bundesamt. This section includes the provision of telecommunication services, i.e. the transmission of speech, data, text, sounds or images. The transmission facilities can be based on a single or multiple technologies. The activities subsumed under this category have in common that content is transmitted, but not produced. The structure of this sector is defined by the type of infrastructure used. In case of TV broadcasts, the category may also apply to the bundling of TV programs (produced according to the specifications of sector 60) and selling them as program packages.
