This industry outlook is based on segments 62 and 63 of the industry classification by the German federal statistics office. Segment 62 comprises the following activities linked to the IT industry: development, adaption, testing, and maintenance of software, planning and development of computer systems involving hardware, software and communications technology. Furthermore, it includes administration and operation of computer systems and data processing facilities belonging to customers as well as other professional or technical activities connected to data processing. Segment 63 includes activities of search engine portals, data processing, hosting and other activities that aim at providing information.
