This statistic shows the number of jobs in the tourism sector in metropolitan regions of France in 2011. The tourism sector was responsible for the employment of 1.3 million people in France in 2011. With an estimated 395 thousand jobs related to the tourism industry, the Île-de-France region accounted for about one third of these jobs. The Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regions ranked second and third in terms of tourism employment, with 147 and 140 thousand existing jobs in this sector, respectively.

INSEE used the "Déclarations annuelles de données sociales" from 2011, which give information on employees - their job, pay date, number of hours worked among others - the "Enquête de fréquentation hôtelière" conducted every month in hotels of more than five rooms and the "Fichier économique enrichi", a file summary.
