In 2023, petroleum imports to France reached some 45.5 million tons, after decreasing over the past few years. France's crude oil imports dropped to their lowest in 2020 since at least 2010, amounting to roughly 33 million tons. Approximately half of it came from OPEC members such as Algeria, Nigeria, and Libya.
