As of December 2022, there were 8,190 supermarkets and other grocery (except convenience) retailers in Canada. Micro supermarkets and other grocery stores, which employ between one and four employees, were the most widespread type of grocery store in Canada. There were 1,670 micro stores located across Canada at this time.
