During the survey period it was found that roughly 1.01 million students (53.3 percent) stated that attractive design was an important factor when looking for a new phone.

The survey is based on the German-speaking population aged 14 years and older, in private households at the place of main residence in Germany.

2014: 8,156 respondents, projected base of 70.52 million persons
Information on target group "German-speaking students (university, university of applied science, open university) aged 18 to 29 years":
2014: projected base of 1.89 million persons
The survey question was phrased as follows: "Imagine you were to buy a new mobile phone or smartphone. Which criteria would be particularly important to you? Please tell me according to this list" (Original German question: "Einmal angenommen, Sie wollen sich ein Handy bzw. Smartphone kaufen. Worauf würden Sie da besonders achten? Sagen Sie es mir einfach nach dieser Liste hier.")
