This data show the results of a survey concerning sustainable production methods and the use of environmentally friendly materials as buying criteria for computer hardware in Germany from 2013 to 2015. In 2014, roughly 12.46 million Germans aged 14 years and older deemed environmentally friendly production methods and sustainable materials an important criterion for their purchase decision.

The survey is based on the German-speaking population aged 14 years and older, in private households at the place of main residence in Germany.

Information on the basic sample:
2013: 8,702 respondents, projected base of 70.33 million people
2014: 8,156 respondents, projected base of 70.52 million people
2015: 7,009 respondents, projected base of 69.24 million people

The survey question was phrased as follows: "Imagine you were to buy a new computer, what would be especially important to you? Please tell me according to this list. Answer: 'The computer was produced resource-efficiently from environmentally safe materials."
(Original German question: "Wenn Sie einen Computer kaufen wollten, worauf würden Sie da besonders achten? Sagen Sie es bitte nach dieser Liste hier." Antwortmöglichkeit: "Dass der Computer aus umweltverträglichen Materialien besteht, ressourcenschonend hergestellt wurde.")
