Mobile and smartphones: most popular brands in Germany 2016

This statistic shows the results of a survey ranking the most popular mobile phone and smartphone brands based on consumer usage in Germany in 2015 and 2016. In 2016, Samsung was the most popular brand among German mobile or smartphone users aged 14 years and older, with almost 34 percent of respondents preferring it. Apple was preferred by 16.4 percent of respondents that year, and Nokia brought up the top three with 15.9 percent.
The number of Samsung smartphone users in Germany has grown between 2013 and 2016, amounting to 23.52 million users in 2016. Samsung leads the mobile phone and smartphone market on a worldwide scale, with 2012 being a crucial year in this development. That year, Samsung overtook Nokia/ Microsoft, as well as reaching a market share of 30 percent of the global smartphone market. As seen in this ranking, among German mobile phone and smartphone users, Apple remains Samsung's main competitor.
