In 2023, approximately 113 billion euros worth of pharmaceuticals were exported from Germany, the second highest value in the provided time interval. The annual value of pharmaceuticals exported from Germany has increased year-on-year since 2002, with the only exceptions being in 2009, 2011, 2019, and 2023.
Where are the exports going?
The United States was by far the primary destination for German pharmaceuticals exports in 2023, with an export value of over 26 billion euros. The Netherlands and Switzerland were following, with around 9.8 billion and 7.7 billion U.S. dollars, respectively.
