Total U.S. coffee per capita consumption 2020, by region

In 2020, the Northeast was the leading region in terms of coffee consumption in the United States, drinking roughly 1.97 cups of coffee per capita per day. The South drank the least amount of coffee that year, namely about 1.8 cups a day.

Coffee consumption by location

In 2030, coffee consumers in the United States drank roughly 1.28 cups of coffee at home per day. Americans drank much less coffee outside of the house: the U.S. average amounted to around a fifth of a cup per day at work and at eating places that year.

Coffee import

The United States imported roughly 1.14 billion U.S. dollars' worth of Colombian coffee in 2019, making Columbia the largest coffee trading partner of the United States. Brazil, another South American country known for its coffee beans and for being the world’s largest coffee producing country in 2019, stood in second place, exporting 1 billion U.S. dollars’ worth of coffee to the United States that year.
