In 2014, the French press (or plunger) system was used by about two percent of coffee drinkers in the United States for their past-day consumption, a two percent decrease from the previous year.
Instant coffee drinkers in the United States
Another way in which coffee was prepared in 2024 was by instant coffee. That year, about 11 percent of U.S. consumers used instant coffee from a can or a jar for their coffee the day before. Instant coffee stick packs were generally less popular than cans or jars over the last nine years: roughly two percent of coffee consumers drank coffee made with stick packs in 2020.
Cold brew coffee
In recent years, cold brew coffee has been gaining a lot of traction. In 2019, about five percent of consumers in the United States stated they regularly drink cold brew coffee, while 15 percent reported that they drink it on occasion. Some 46 percent of consumers in the United States had heard of cold brew coffee before but were yet to try it.
