Number of new passenger car registrations in Hungary 2010-2023

Over the first years of the observed period, new passenger car registrations continuously grew in Hungary, peaking at 157.9 thousand by 2019. However, this figure started following a declining trend throughout the next years and decreased to 107.7 thousand registrations by 2023.

Most popular car brands

In 2023, Suzuki was the leading car maker in Hungary, considering that two of the top three car models of the year were made by the same manufacturer. Nearly six thousand Suzuki S-Cross cars were registered in 2023, followed by almost five thousand Suzuki Vitara models. When it comes to electric cars, in 2022,Tesla was the leading brand based on sales volume, followed by Kia and BMW.

Automotive brands on social media

The most popular Hungarian automotive page on Facebook belongs to BMW Magyarország with 177 thousand followers, with Mercedes-Benz Magyarország coming in second place. At the same time, OPEL MAGYARORSZÁG is the leading automobile brand channel on YouTube, counting nearly 6.3 thousand subscribers.
