The total number of beds available for tourists in Barcelona in 2023 amounted to more than 150 thousand. Hotels offered the largest number of those beds, totting up roughly 76.7 thousand. In that same year, homes for tourist use had an accommodation capacity of 58 thousand beds. 

The expansion of Barcelona’s accommodation market before COVID-19

In the three decades before the COVID-19 crisis, Barcelona saw a considerable increase in the number of visitors who stayed in hotels. By 2022, this industry had recovered around 74 percent of its pre-pandemic number of customers. In the same year, the number of hotels in the Spanish city climbed up to 443, which was the highest number recorded since 1990. Similarly, the bed occupancy showed a significant recovery from the global health crisis, standing only 7.2 percentage points below the 2019 rate.

Costs of hotel rooms in Barcelona

In the summer months of 2022, the average cost for a standard double room in a hotel in Barcelona was around 240 euros. These prices dropped during the winter season.
