Children using mobile phones or smartphones in Finland 2015, by age

This statistic shows the result of a survey on the share of children who used mobile phones or smartphones in Finland in June 2015, by age of child (according to their parents). According to the survey, children aged 12 years used smartphones the most, the share of 12-year-old smartphone users amounting to 97 percent. The corresponding figure for children aged 11 was 97 percent. Meanwhile, less than five percent of children aged 11 and 12 used a feature phone. Feature phones were the most popular for children aged 8 as 24 percent used a feature phone. A little under 50 percent of children aged 7 and 8 used smartphones, whereas 71 percent of the children aged 6 years old used neither a smartphone nor a feature phone.
According to a survey on the most popular activities performed by children on internet-enabled smartphone in Finland, children aged 6 to 12 engaged mostly in keeping in contact with family members and friends and making phone calls.
