This statistic presents the share of teenagers in the United States who have made friends online as of March 2015, sorted by demographic group and platform. During the survey period, it was found that 43 percent of girls aged 15 to 17 years had made online friends via social media sites and 37 percent of responding boys among the same age group had made friends through online video games.
