The number of passenger car registrations in Poland has been steadily increasing since 1990. In 2022, nearly 21.5 million passenger cars were registered in countrywide, which is an increase of nearly 16.2 million compared to 1990.
Sale of passenger cars in Poland
In 2023, the most popular types of cars in Poland were medium-size SUVs and crossovers. Interest in medium-sized vehicles (C segment) has also been growing. As for the most popular brands among new passenger cars in 2023, Toyota Corolla and Škoda Octavia were the leaders. Toyota recorded five models in the ranking of most popular cars in Poland in 2023 in terms of the number of registrations. The brand accounted for the increase in sales — volume sales were down from the previous year. The most significant increase in sales was marked by Cupra, and the largest decline by Ford over 2023.
The electric car market in Poland
Electric cars are becoming increasingly popular among the Polish society. In 2022, every fourth person expressed willingness to buy an electric vehicle, which means an increase of more than 10 percent compared to the previous year. In 2023, there will be more than 98,000 such cars on Polish roads. The largest share of electric vehicles in Poland in 2023 were mild-hybrid cars (MHEV).
