Ford's vehicle sales in Canada - Q4 2019 & 2021

This statistic represents the Ford Motor Company's vehicle sales in Canada during the fourth quarter of 2020 and the fourth quarter of 2021. During Q4 2021, the Ford Motor Company sold roughly 60,700 cars to customers in Canada, an increase in number compared to 2020, in which they sold around 51,000 units. Like most vehicle manufacturers, 2020 was a difficult year for sales in Canada and around the world.

Why is Ford selling less in Canada?

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Canadian purchases of Ford vehicles were already lower than normal. In the fourth quarter of 2019, Ford Motor Company’s quarterly vehicle sales were down eight percent compared to the same period in 2018, and yet, Ford still remains the most popular auto manufacturer in Canada. The entire industry seems to be in a lull and falling sales of passenger cars are not exclusive to Ford. As consumers appear to increasingly prefer SUVs and pickup trucks, Ford’s F-series has risen in sales in 2019. Adapting marketing to consumer changes has been important for rivals who are increasing sales, and companies such as Tesla are benefitting riding on the wave of popularity of electric vehicles in Canada.
